PORTLAND SET TO HOST 1999 NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL RACQUETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Wilson 12th U.S. National High School Racquetball Championships are set to be held March 5-7, 1999 at the Sunset Athletic Club in Portland, Ore. The annual event is presented by Penn Racquet Sports.

A RETURN TO GLORY? - Defending singles champions Brooke Crawford (Klamath Falls, Ore./Henley H.S.) and Josh Tucker (Joplin, Mo./Joplin H.S.) return to defend their respective girl's and boy's crowns. Tucker is attempting to become only the second player to win two boy's H.S. singles titles, while Crawford is going for her fourth and fifth U.S. national high school titles (singles and doubles).

KEEPING IT IN THE FAMILY - For Klamath Falls, Ore., residents Brooke and brother Bart Crawford, this year's event will give them a chance to win a second consecutive national H.S. mixed doubles championship. In only eight years of existence, the mixed doubles division has produced a brother-sister winning combination six times.

OREGON DOMINANCE - Beaverton H.S. (Beaverton, Ore.) and Sprague H.S. (Salem, Ore.) have combined to win the past three overall team titles. Beaverton captured the 1996-97 titles, while Sprague won last year's crown.
